Luxury Holiday Specialists - Tim Best Travel
Tim Best - Managing Director
Tim Best started his specialist travel company ten years ago and it has flourished ever since. Often asked what the secret to an exceptional safari holiday is, he replies... "Make sure you have a good guide...".
Tim, along with his brother inherited Rowland Ward - founded in the 19th Century, the largest taxidermist company in the world. Taxidermy was clearly not his vocation, and after selling up he opened a shop in Knightsbridge specialising in new and antiquarian books on travel and natural history, and also glasses hand-engraved with animals. He opened two more shops with partners in Johannesburg which complemented the two already in Nairobi. This has given him the opportunity to travel Africa over nearly thirty years. He spent three years marketing specific safari camps in Botswana and Tanzania, and lodges in Nepal. More recently his extensive travels in Latin America makes Tim a real expert in luxury safaris and exotic holidays.
Toby Warren - Africa & Australia Expert
Toby was brought up in Kenya and at a young age gained a passion for travelling. After climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro when he was sixteen he went on to help manage a fishing lodge on the shores of Lake Victoria, hitch hike barefoot through sub-Saharan Africa and spent a year working and learning to guide in Kenya as part of his university degree (how he got away with it we just don't know). Having completed his dissertation on the effects of tourism in Kenya, Toby was persuaded to move to England by his then girlfriend (and now more recently his wife) where he has remained and has been with Tim Best since 2002. Toby travels Africa as often as he can either visiting his parents or with work which has seen him visit Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Morocco, Gabon and Libya to name a few and annually explores Australia for us. Toby is somewhat of a sports fanatic and in his spare time loves nothing more than to fly-fish or play squash.

In 2006 Rachel worked for a horse riding operation in the Okavango Delta and instead of returning to the UK as intended, diverted to Kenya and then on to Johannesburg to study her private pilots license which she completed in June 2007.
