La Almuña
La Almuña, a beautiful country house surrounded by the rolling Andalucian countryside. Owned and hosted by Hugh and Jane Arbuthnott who have created a unique and wonderful home with great attention to detail. The house has an indefinable atmosphere and breathtaking views of fortified Berber villages scattered over green mountains stretching to the distant Pillars of Hercules and beyond into Africa.
Where is it?
The house is located in a beautiful part of Andalucía in an area of outstanding and impressive beauty with an extraordinary diversity of landscape. There are massive grey limestone mountains, cork oak forests, olive groves, open farmland aglow with sunflowers and pastures ablaze with the colours of a thousand wild flowers.
What is it?
Built on a 500 acre farm, it is a wonderful retreat and perfect for a house party for a long weekend or a longer holiday. Eating and drinking very well are an essential part of staying at La Almuña - Jane is a renowned cook creating delicious meals and picnics with fresh organic ingredients mostly home grown from the Almuña kitchen garden.
What is there to do?
Activities can be organised to cater for the varying ages, interests and abilities of the party. At home you can enjoy swimming, tennis and fantastic local walks through cork forests and beautiful sierras. Excursions to Ronda, Jerez or even nights away in the magnificent cities of Granada and Seville can be arranged. There are exceptional golf courses all within close range of Almuña. An expert can take you bird watching as far as northern Morocco and the Coto Donaña. In the season you can enjoy whale watching in the Straits with the chance to see pilot, killer, sperm and fin whale plus bottlenose, common and striped dolphin and take a walk along some of the wonderful Atlantic beaches.

The house can accommodate up to 14 people in 7 delightful en suite bedrooms. You can stay from 4 - 14 days throughout the year.
