One of the many attractions of the South of Spain is the wonderful variety of scenery in a relatively small area. Whether you are looking for a long weekend (easy from the UK) or a longer holiday it is a fantastic destination. Our focus is on Andalucía; a region rich in Spanish and Moorish culture and history, with diverse landscapes; from the massive mountain ranges, cork oak forests, olive groves, orange farms, fields of sunflowers to white sandy beaches. There is so much to see and explore in this region of Spain that will entice you back time and time again without revisiting any of the same places (although you will certainly want to).
The ancient Arabic and Muslim cities of Cordoba, Seville, Ronda and Granada retain their splendour and formidable beauty with their palaces and fortresses, built by Moorish craftsmen, still in shipshape condition. The fertile countryside is dotted with white villages where the pace of life is slow, the people are friendly, the local restaurant serves an excellent plate of tapas and the local sherry slips down smoothly.
From April, the hills are carpeted in wild flowers, thousands of oranges and lemons are dropping off the trees, the air is warm and filled with the scent of blossom and wild herbs, and the villages are preparing for the start of the fiesta season. They dust off their flamenco dresses, the horses are groomed, the sherry is prepared and the bull fighters get ready for the explosion of Spanish machismo.
In the Parque Nacional de Doñana, one of Europe's most important wetland areas you find spectacular birdlife in immense numbers, permanent residents and migratory visitors alike, and in the spring the Donana's marshlands are covered with flowers.
You can explore the hills and villages of Andalucía on wonderful walking holidays or take a group of friends to a private house.
You could enjoy a week of partridge shooting or just relax in a wonderful hacienda with magnificent bird watching at your fingertips, or take an historical tour through the wonderful Moorish cities of Andalucía with knowledgeable and inspiring guides.
